The Raven is the enigmatic kingpin of the Shrike Syndicate. Originally serving at one point as advisor to the syndicate's current leaders, Lucian Vex and his wife, and as the syndicate's executioner, she came to power within the organization some time shortly before the Gloomfall, wresting control after the mysterious disappearance of the Vexes. Lucian's son, Shrike wunderkind, and would-be heir to the syndicate 
Silas "Silo" Vex suspected foul play in his parents' disappearance but couldn't conclusively say. Under her influence, the Shrikes degraded from a mostly noble band of thieves and smugglers serving the people of Westreach to common thugs and bandits causing havoc for Skylight. After the Gloomfall, which coincidentally invovled Silo's death, the Shrikes' harrassment of Skylight only intensified. A number of Shrikes still loyal to the Vex family, led by 
Kestrel, broke away from the broader syndicate and are still trying to assist Skylight while dealing with the rotten Shrikes. Kestrel, who (alongside 
Old Kite) suffered a personal betrayal and loss thanks to the Raven's machinations, has sworn bloody vengeance against the kingpin who corrupted her beloved syndicate.
Until recently, no one outside the corrupted syndicate could track down the Raven. Now, following a massive Shrike stockpile of godsblood, her trail is revealed and leads deep into the Eldren-infested jungles of the Crucible. With the assistance of the Wayfinders (incluiding the revived Silo), Kestrel is hot on her trail, still baying for her blood. But the Raven's secrets run deeper than anyone could ever know...
