Someone savagely attacked a group of Shrikes at their camp in the Highlands. Investigate the scene to determine the elements of magic that were involved.

The weapons master Arsenal has asked you to investigate the scene of an attack in the Highlands. A group of Shrikes was massacred, and she is concerned that all is not what it appears to be.

Dialogue[edit]

Clear Phase 1
Arsenal

There, on the ground. Inspect that body closely.

Clear Phase 2
Arsenal

Something sheared through the armor. There was more than force and steel in this blow. I need to see more... What of that cut in the dirt there?

Clear Phase 3
Arsenal

Ah, see how the same stroke cuts through stone and soil. This was a blade forged from shadow, pure and silent. What of the footprints?

Clear Phase 4
Arsenal

Hmm. They may be going to the Bloodworks. You should speak with the survivor of the attack. She is being held in Lower Skylight. Her name is Tezza.

Clear Phase 5
Tezza

Who are you? Don't come any closer!

Player

It's okay. I'm not here to harm you. You're safe.

Tezza

There's no such thing.

Player

You're surrounded by Seekers and behind bars.

Tezza

Steel bars aren't going to stop him. I don't think anything will.

Player

Start at the beginning. What happened?

Tezza

We were making camp for the night outside the Bloodworks. This slag walks up, none of us recognized him. We ask him his name, he says, "Eclipse." We welcome him... no response.

Eskie offers him a fruit, and whack! He swings this axe and takes her whole shoulder off. We scream and he just went onto the next, so quick. Cut right through Jace's sword and his armor besides.

I stabbed him, Mani shot him clean in the head, but... he didn't feel pain. The injuries stuck, but death never came. And his face... he was in a trance. He just raised the axe and brought it down.

There was a presence. And it wasn't him. Something else was there, and it was enjoying itself. But there wasn't anything else, just... that axe.

Player

How did you survive?

Tezza

I was the last one standing. I should have been dead, he looked right at me. But then he turned away, like it was nothing to him. No anger, no mercy. Just... nothing mattered.

Player

Sounds like you were lucky.

Tezza

You don't get it. I'm not lucky. He could come for me. Or I could just see him on the street and he'd kill me for no reason at all. No one is safe while he's still out there. Whatever he is.

Player

I'll find him, and stop him.

Tezza

You mean you'll try. Look... I don't know what you want from me. But if you somehow have an army to stop this skell, take them to the Bloodworks. That's the direction he headed in.

Clear Phase 6
Arsenal

The Eclipse. My fears are confirmed, Wayfinder. It's best we speak of this in person.
